Krystal & David — A Love Celebrated Twice

I first met Krystal and David in January 2025, when they reached out to me to officiate their small and intimate wedding on February 10th. Although they were living in San Diego at the time, David’s parents reside in Los Angeles, and the couple chose to hold their micro-wedding ceremony in the warmth and familiarity of his parents’ home.

What I didn’t yet know was that this intimate gathering was just the beginning. They were also planning a larger celebration several months later in San Diego, where they would be joined by a wider circle of friends and family.

From the very beginning, Krystal and David were a joy to work with. As we crafted their ceremony together, it became clear just how deeply they love and care for one another. Each of them was genuinely invested in the other’s well-being, and they both wanted their ceremony to reflect not only romance, but also a sense of spiritual depth and meaning. They saw their meeting as nothing less than a God-given gift.

As they shared their story with me, they spoke of a season in which both had been dating others, yet nothing quite felt right—until they met each other. In that moment, everything shifted. As they described it, it was as though “there was music in the air.” Almost instantly, they recognized that they had found their person. Their gratitude and joy were unmistakable.

Their February ceremony was simple, intimate, and deeply moving. Surrounded by David’s parents and a few close friends, we created a space that felt both sacred and personal. One especially meaningful element was their desire to honor a beloved grandparent who had recently passed. In a quiet and heartfelt way, we acknowledged the presence and legacy of the older generation, which added a beautiful layer of depth to the ceremony.

After the ceremony, once the marriage license had been signed and sent off, I received a message from Krystal and David that truly touched me. They asked if I would please officiate their larger wedding celebration in San Diego on July 30th. They shared how much the intimate ceremony had meant to them, and how important it was to have that same sense of connection and care carried into their larger celebration.

I was deeply honored to say yes.

And so, I had the privilege of standing with them once again—this time surrounded by a joyful gathering of loved ones—continuing the story we had begun together just months before.
